What to Prepare for Auditions!

VOCALS: Applicants should fully prepare two (2) contrasting song 'cuts', approximately one minute each. Both songs should play to your strengths as a performer and singer; at least one song should be from a musical. You may sing one non-musical theater song (pop, rock, R&B, classical, etc) if you feel it best demonstrates your range and ability. You may perform a capella or with an accompaniment track (please do not sing along with a vocal track). You may play your music off of your device into our speakers, or email your music tracks ahead of time to avenueartstheatre@gmail.com

CHOREOGRAPHY: Once you’ve signed up for an audition slot, you will be emailed a short demo video with a dance combination. It will be similar to the style we plan to use with the company this year. Please review the video and be familiar with the choreography. We will ask you to dance the combination for our staff at your audition. Choreographer, Katy Russell, will be at auditions to assist if needed. Plan to dress comfortably in clothes and shoes you can move in!

ACTING: We ask that you prepare a one-minute monologue of your choosing to perform for the staff at auditions that best showcases your acting abilities. Please be prepared to take direction from the staff and be willing to be flexible as we are watching your audition!
